This is probably boring to anyone who is reading this, but I finally figured out for myself how I am going to manage two art websites since I don't want to get rid of either one.  I guess I am stubborn.

I am going to use my original website (richardbaronfinearts.com) as a place that people can see my non-digital work (original and encaustics and any site that is not primarily digital in origin).  I am going to use the Artspan website as the place for people to buy prints of my digital and original work.

I spent all morning trying to match the pricing on both sites so that they are consistent.  I am going to remove eventually all my digital artwork from my original site.  I lowered all the prices by using $100 for a 13x19 print and calculating 70% of that for the various sizes.  I have struggled for weeks how to figure this out and I feel good about it.  I want to give the buyer a fair price for a print yet give myself a fair price for my work.  Now I will fix both websites until my work has been completed to my satisfaction.

Edited my website a bit.  I am still trying to figure out how to keep the original Richard Baron Fine Arts website with the new Artspan website.  I did add a domain to the Artspan website: RKBaronFineArts and kept the richardbaronfinearts@gmail.com email address.

The other issue that I am trying to figure out is whether to keep the www.fineartamerica.com website for allowing people to put one of my images on such things as cups and towels, etc etc etc. Then I have to make sure my prices on my digital prints are similar to those on artspan.

I probably shouldn't bore anyone with these details but these are real issues for me.

This is really hard for me, trying to sell my work online as well as locally.

I am in the process of starting an art business in order to show and sell my artwork. Most of the work I am doing is creating digital paintings to create each piece. I am enamored by the endless possibilities of media and digital media to create artwork and love working with digital media.

The issues that I am dealing with involve how people look at my work in terms of being serious and valuable artwork as well as how to price the work when considering buying a Richard Baron art piece. Because the work can be reproduced each piece is not unique but the image I create is authentic. 

I don't want to sell my work as just a print. But, at the same time, I can't sell my work the same way I would sell a piece created uniquely with oils or acrylics or whatever medium.  One of the advantages of selling one of my works in the tradition of a print is that I can create multiple copies at different sizes. I sell these using pigment inks on professional or museum-quality papers or canvas.

I am basing my price on a 13"x19" digital work at $110.00.  I am using artspan.com to sell my work and they offer several different sizes, frames, etc. I am basing my price on the fact that I consider my pieces original digital paintings.

So, I guess I will have to see if my prices actually work or not.
